Carol Alvarado, a member of the original group of dancers that started BFA, Carol has taken instruction from well known dance masters from Mexico and has traveled and performed before a variety of audiences.  She currently teaches two classes of students. Carol is busy wife and mother of four. She is also employed as an administrative assistant with a local engineering firm.  Carol’s children also dance with BFA.

 

 

 

 

Stephanie Bravo-Vordokas has been dancing for 16 years and is a member of the Company.  She enjoys reading and acting in community theater and being a newlywed!  “I dance because it makes me happy.  I teach because I hope that through dance my students will build self-confidence, learn respect for one another and discover an appreciation for the arts.” 

Favorite dances:  No favorites, just happy performing any dance

 

 

 

Melissa J. Cano has been dancing for 18 years and a member of Company.  She makes the drive in from Dallas several times a week to teach her classes and practice with the Company.  Dancing is her passion and demonstrates that every time she performs.  She enjoys watching her smiling students perform on stage.

Favorite Dances: Veracruz & Sinaloa

 

Celia Gonzales is back to teaching after taking a break.  She works at Bell Helicopter and is a college student at Dallas Baptist University.  She has three children, two of those dancing with BFA.  We are very glad Celia is back dancing and teaching with BFA, she brings an enthusiasm to her classes that demonstrates her love of folklorico dance.

Favorite dances: “All the new stuff I haven’t performed yet”

 

 

 

Nestor Lopez Guerra, BFA’s newest instructor, has been dancing for 10 years.  He studied folklorico dance at the Universidad de Mexico-Puebla.  He is happy to be able to share what he has learned with  the students and hopes that he leaves a little bit of Mexico with them.

Favorite dances: Yucatan, Sinaloa, Puebla

 

 

Christal Olivo, is a senior at Arlington Heights High school and has been dancing for 9 years.  “For me, dancing is a passion and a dream, and it’s something that I’m really good at!  I would like to be a role model for the little ones to show them what is possible with a little hard work.”  Christal will be assistant teaching this session as well as performing with the Company.  She hopes to bring her love to dance to the students.

Favorite Dances: Baja California, Veracruz, Nayarit & Sinaloa

 

 

 

Manuel Sides is a graphic designer for the Star Telegram by day and a dedicated dance teacher and Company member by night.  Manuel teaches students ages 7 to 11 and a class of adult students as well.  He has been dancing since he was in high school and hopes to continue to share his love of dance as long as possible.
